I'm currently working on a project titled 'Potentiality and Essence: An Integrated Actualist Theory of Metaphysical Modality', in which I am investigating the relationship between essence- and powers-based theories of modality. In these months at the Human Abilities centre, I'm focusing in particular on two topics: first the relation that potentiality and essence have with the passage of time, and the resulting interplay between time and modality that they generate; secondly, on what it means for a theory of modality to be 'localised', and what it means for potentialities to be 'local' phenomena.
