Philosophy of action
I am an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Chicago. I work primarily in the philosophy of action. I also have serious interests in epistemology (esp. formal epistemology) and ethics (esp. metaethics).
Currently, I am working on two projects in the philosophy of action. The first is on the relationship between agency and biology. While at the center, I will be writing a paper titled "Vital Action" that argues that biological processes such as digestion and gestation can be intentional actions. The second project is on the functions of our concepts of agency. While at the center, I will be writing a paper titled "The Problem of Action Theory" that argues that there is a demarcation problem in the philosophical study of agency, a problem that can be addressed only by keeping in view the functions of our concepts of agency.
