Philosophy of action
I am an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Chicago. I work primarily in the philosophy of action. I also have serious interests in epistemology (esp. formal epistemology) and ethics (esp. metaethics).
Currently, I am working on two projects in the philosophy of action. The first is on agency and technology. Specifically, I've been thinking about the relation of inanimate objects to expressions of human agency and how to think about action in relation to emerging technologies such as virtual reality and brain-computer interfaces. Second, I'm working on a book project about the practical origins of forms of action. My focus at the institute will be writing a paper titled "Acting with Objects" which spans both projects.
